Curriculum, Enrichment & Assessment - Key Stage 3 (Years 7 - 9)
KEY STAGE 3 CURRICULUM
In Year 7, 8 and 9 our curriculum aims to be broad and balanced providing students with a range of experiences across a variety of subjects.
Students in Year 7, 8 and 9 will study:

As students move into Year 9 they continue to study these subjects with an element of choice in Design & Technology, and the performing and creative arts subjects. Students must study at least one Design & Technology subject from Food, Product Design & Textiles, one Performing Arts subject from Dance, Drama and Music with free choice across Design & Technology, Performing Arts and Art for a third subject choice
All subjects studied by students at Key Stage 3 lead on to the wide range of courses we offer at GCSE and A Level and thus enables a seamless progression through to Key Stage 4 and Post 16. We are very proud of the wide range of subjects we offer, and are committed to maintaining a broad choice for our students as an 11-19 College.
During Year 9 students will be supported to choose their subject choices for Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11) that will lead onto GCSE qualifications. Further details on this process and the KS4 Guide to Courses booklet can be found on our Key Stage 4 Curriculum page.

KEY STAGE 3 ASSESSMENT
At Lutterworth College, our approach to assessment at Key Stage 3 focuses on each individual student, enabling us to monitor their attainment and progress and ensure they receive the appropriate level of support and challenge.
Each subject has a carefully planned curriculum which sets out the knowledge, skills and understanding students are expected to develop over time. Subject Assessment Frameworks define what students need to know, understand and be able to do at different levels of Curriculum Security: Developing, Approaching, Secure and Extending.
Students join Lutterworth College with different starting points based on their prior attainment at primary school. We use this information to help us understand the progress we would expect each student to make, while ensuring that all students are supported and challenged to achieve as highly as possible.
Throughout Key Stage 3, students complete a range of assessments which enable teachers to evaluate how securely they are learning the curriculum and monitor the progress they are making from their individual starting point. Assessment outcomes are recorded in GO 4 Schools, which parents/carers and students can access.
The information in GO 4 Schools is live and updates throughout the year as students complete further assessments, providing an ongoing picture of their attainment and progress. Parents/carers are also sent a Progress Review once a year, which provides information about their child's Curriculum Security and Progress, alongside a personalised written comment from each subject.
