Year 12 Work Experience with The Business Hub
A group of Lutterworth College Year 12 students recently had the fantastic opportunity to undertake a week block of work experience at Magna Park, organised by The Business Hub and funded by Harborough District Council. This is what one of the students had to say about this fantastic opportunity:-
"Last week, I had the amazing opportunity to take part in work experience at The Business Hub Work Experience™ and it was one of the most insightful and inspiring weeks I’ve had so far.
From learning about leadership and resilience in business to exploring the scale of logistics operations at Magna Park, every conversation offered a valuable lesson. I had the chance to meet incredible professionals who generously shared their experiences, insights, and advice with us.
💡 Hearing from David Appleton and Jon Redding about the highs and lows of running your own business, and how vital resilience is when facing challenges.
🏗️ Gaining insight into the large-scale logistics projects GLP UK runs around Magna Park — and how crucial communication, planning, and teamwork are when managing operations of that scale.
📈 Receiving great advice from Jamie To and Julieann Bates at Harborough District Council on the importance of economic development and how effective communication helps attract businesses to the area.
🧠 Learning about mental health and how vital it is to look after your brain, thanks to Josie Chappell — including practical techniques like small mental exercises to improve wellbeing.
👥 Gaining leadership tips from Marc Rowley, who emphasised how important leadership skills are whether you’re running your own business or working within one.
This experience not only helped me build confidence, but also gave me valuable skills, professional connections, and a deeper understanding of the working world.
A huge thank you to Nicola Moss for making this experience possible — I’m incredibly grateful.
If you’re ever offered the chance to take part in work experience like this: do it. You’ll come away with more than just knowledge — you’ll gain perspective, purpose, and preparation for your future."
