Headteachers message - Advent Service at the Cathedral
On Tuesday I was fortunate to attend the Church of England primary schools advent service at Leicester Cathedral where an number of College students performed absolutely brilliantly. We were very pleased to receive the following positive message from the Diocesan Board of Education and I thought it worth sharing this one from Carolyn Lewis who is the Diocesan Director of Education in Leicester, and also a member of Lutterworth Academies Trust:
Dear all
This morning a number of Lutterworth College students attended the DBE’s annual Advent Service. The service is mostly attended by children from our primary schools and we usually ask students from one of our secondary schools to contribute in some way.
I have to say that your students excelled themselves! They sang ‘Prepare ye the Way of the Lord’ beautifully in a way that required great confidence and self-assurance. They also gave a drama performance which had the children and adults alike both laughing and reflecting on what it meant for Mary to be told she would have a son called Jesus who would be the saviour of the world.
With all good wishes
Carolyn Lewis
Diocesan Director of Education
And from Andy Heafford, the Education Officer at Leicester Cathedral.
3 days on from the DBE Advent service, I feel prompted to write to you to applaud the staff and pupils who took part in the service. They were all a talented bunch – more than this though, their air of positivity and “can do “ attitude was a great credit to themselves and the school. Clearly much work had gone into this involvement and we deeply appreciate that. The Cathedral was really just the host for this event – the work was done by your staff and students – nonetheless the quality of what was done deserved such a venue.
Please pass on my congratulations and thanks to the staff and pupils.
With best wishes
Andy
Hence, a massive thank you and congratulations to Faye Hodges and Richard Rolfe and to the following students:
Paige Day
Jennifer Hendry
Lexie Crofts

Phone App warning for parents
Please take a look at the image below, this has been circulated by Surrey Police.Statistics show that approximately 40% of smartphone users of secondary school age are using Social Media for around 3-5 hours per day. Parents that understand what some of the applications are that are installed on these devices can really help tackle issues such as cyber-bullying.
